Why players use it
Take the whole guitar down a step to D G C F A D, then drop the 6th string to C. You keep the one-finger power chords of Drop D but sit two semitones lower, with slacker strings that bend easily and hit harder.
What it buys you
Drop D shapes and a much heavier low end. Heavier strings help — standard gauges go floppy this low.
